Vancouver Engagement Photos | Kristina and Jeremy

A few weeks ago I met up with Kristina and Jeremy at Whitecliff Park in West Vancouver for a morning engagement shoot. Jeremy proposed to Kristina here a few months earlier, which made the location of our photo shoot extra special, not to mention AWESOME! They are totally cute, snuggly, and in love. They are planning their wedding for next summer on the east coast. Congrats on the engagement and happy planning!

Little did we know but there was a momma and baby hanging out at the beach that morning too!

Apparently the beach is a good place to hang out.

I can’t tell you how much I love this pair of images.

Some exciting news: I am now living in Vancouver! Yay! I’m available for engagement shoots, portraits or boudoir Mon-Fri for the month of September (still have shoots in Edmonton on the weekends) and after Sept 25 I am in Vancouver full time. I’ve been a busy little bee these days! I have so much to share with the world but for now, here’s a teaser from Kristina and Jeremy’s engagement session. Edmonton Engagement Photos | Lisa + Ryan

Lisa and Ryan are getting married on June 26…and guess who’s their photographer?? Me!! Yay! I am so pumped to shoot their wedding later this month, it’s going to be a blast. They are such a fun couple and their friends are super fun too. I’ve been warned about rediculous people, potential pants dropping and a motorhome to transport the wedding party. I have a feeling that my stomach is going to hurt on June 27, from laughing so hard all day at their wedding! I can’t wait.

They live in St. Albert, not too far from me actually, and I found a place about 5 minutes from our neighbourhood that worked well. We went for some more “Alberta-esque” (read – barn) shots for the engagements because we’re going to go for some city shots at their wedding.

The most random thing I’ve ever seen – about 50 dead lawnmowers in piles. We dubbed it “The Lawnmower Graveyard”.

Edmonton Maternity Photographer | Conor + Carilynn

Conor and Carilynn are friends of ours and their baby is due any day now! We did a quick session a couple weeks ago in a gorgeous little trail by our house in St. Albert…we had to reschedule twice due to crummy weather, but thankfully Mother Nature finally cooperated and gave us some nice light to shoot in. These two are so excited to become parents, and this little baby is going to be so loved.

Edmonton Portraits | The J Family

Last week Chad and I got together with the J family (aka, Chad’s sister, Jayda, her hubby Ryan and their daughter Grace) to take some photos. They are expecting a new little person to join their family very soon, in the next couple of weeks! We are all very excited to meet her…and I can’t wait to be an auntie again. I love being an auntie.

We started off just doing some relaxed portraits of Jayda and Ryan:

Little miss decided she wanted to get her photo taken in a couple too.

Nope. Not happening.

The photo below had me laughing when I was culling through my shots. Everyone’s expression says it all. Especially Grace. I just love that little stinker.

Edmonton Portraits | Carla + Drew

You know you’re going to have an awesome session when one of your first photos looks like this.

I met Carla at one of Rob + Lauren‘s Chill Sessions. We both learned so much that day and we ended up getting together soon afterwards to chat and get to know each other. In case you haven’t guessed it yet, Carla is another photographer here in Edmonton, Electric Green Photography.

ANYWAY.

Carla and Drew met in Hawaii, can you believe that? They are both from Edmonton but happened to bump into each other while vacationing on the Islands. Crazy stuff I tell you. I think it’s such an awesome story but mostly because Hawaii is my favorite place….I may be biased though because I was married there

They have been married almost 2 years now and they are proud parents to an absolutely beautiful little girl. They are head over heels for each other and with their daughter. They are the cutest little family.

We shot their session in their neighborhood in North Edmonton. We couldn’t have asked for better weather either, the temperature was just comfortable, the light was delicious and they were in the mood to have some fun too.

Apparently Carla’s hair smells good. Get a good sniff Drew!!

Near the end of the session I decided we were way too serious, so we played a little game.

Danielle + Cole | Vancouver portrait session

Over the last few months I have learned so much. I feel like I am really coming into my own, not only as a photographer but as an artist. I feel love within me as I shoot and I think about how I can tell the story of the people I am photographing. Being an interpreter of sorts is what makes me love photography so much. I get to bring an understanding between the world and my subject(s).

Danielle and Cole are two young, beautiful newlyweds. I had the pleasure of photographing them downtown Vancouver a few weeks ago when I was in town for my birthday.

I can set up different types of shots, pose my subjects, tell them what to do, etc. but I can’t just tell someone, hey, feel happy right now so I can take a picture of you feeling happy. Sounds silly doesn’t it? You can’t fake real happiness – the little smirk, and the lines around your eyes. Most of the time we go about our lives with these walls up and nobody gets to see the ‘real’ us. That’s why it’s so special to me that, even for a moment, I got to see this, and now I get to share the art that is their love with the rest of the world.

Angelica + Derek | Edmonton Portraits

Angelica contacted me in December because she wanted to give a couples session to her boyfriend Derek for Christmas. We tentatively booked a date in January, hoping the weather would be warm enough to be able to shoot. Well, the stars and heavens aligned that day in January as it was a balmy 1 degree and so beautifully sunny!

We started our session at McKay Avenue School, which is an old school turned museum. Really cool architecture there and lots of photo ops! We wandered around the neighborhood and found a few other cool spots as well. Realistically though, the backdrop didn’t really matter because these two were so into each other, they are truly in love and that’s a very important factor in having a magical session.

Couples are so much fun to shoot and blogging these photos is my way of putting more love out there into the world. Call me kooky, but I love love. It’s magical, beautiful and so much fun.

It just wouldn’t be ‘me’ to not blog any sunny photos!

Ashley + Kyle {real love} | Edmonton Engagement Photographer

Never have I had a couple so IN LOVE!! Ashley and Kyle could not stop looking at each other, smiling, laughing and being best friends. It was nice to photograph a couple that is so into each other. Chad and I are pretty huggy kissy and usually we annoy people with how in love we are, so it’s nice to know that there are others out there as much in love as we are. What Ashley and Kyle have is real, genuine and true and so refreshing. Chad and I are very excited to shoot their wedding next summer!!

Alright, on with the pictures! I seriously could not choose so this is going to be a GINORMOUS blog post!! Please excuse all the exclamation points I am just too excited!!!!!!! hahah!

Karen + Ed {love} | Edmonton Portrait Photographer

Shooting this session was very special to us because not only are Karen and Ed friends of ours, but also our chiropractors! They own Synergy Family Wellness Centre here in St. Albert.

Ok so there was a bit of a cold snap back at the beginning of October and oh man it was tough to shoot in! These two were total troopers and cuddled to stay warm. I love the little bits of snow you can see falling in the first couple of photos.

Sometimes I get all arty:

I did some simple portraits for them as well and I couldn’t decide if I liked the color or B&W version better.
